I truly believe that Nutrition Professionals
are paramount to the paradigm shift
that is necessary while the
traditional model of healthcare crumbles.
Most of us in the field know and understand first hand
the power of food as medicine and the impact of making dietary
and lifestyle changes in order to heal.

We know what can make the biggest impact
for those navigating their health, and we are here to serve!

I am dedicated to helping you to thrive doing what you love….
However, the path of a nutrition professional is not always a straight one.

While we are passionate about nutrition and have so much to share, we also want to be successful financially so we can continue to serve.

ABOUT
MARY SHEILA GONNELLA - NC, BCHN
The Queen of All Things Nutrition
(and the only MSG that’s good for your diet! ;-)
How did I get so passionate about all things nutrition, with my own practice and by helping other nutritionists?
My passion for nutrition started during my high school years, when I started occasionally cooking the family dinner, and as one of 7 children, this was no small feat!

When I moved from Southern California to Northern California and entered the organic food and farming scene in my early 20’s, I knew I found my people.

I dove right in and never looked back!
I needed the principles of Holistic Nutrition for my own health as well, and finding it was a turning point, that literally saved my life.
Growing up, I had been on a ton of antibiotics and stupid diets, and my concept of food and nutrition was pretty warped, My convoluted eating habits affects my immune system, weight, energy levels and overall health.

Growing, harvesting, wildcrafting, and cooking up organic ingredients was a game changer that literally changed my health picture, and opened the door to my own personal journey of learning everything I could about nutrition and sharing it with others!
Because I love to teach just as much as I love to learn,
my nutrition career has always been one with a
focus on education while serving my clients.
I taught at Bauman College Holistic Nutrition and Culinary arts for over 7 years, in both the classroom and their distance learning program.

Helping students take their passion and turn it into their career, has been just as exciting for me as helping my clients have complete health transformations and get a new lease on life.
“One of Bauman's greatest assets. She is brilliant and communicates her brilliance well.

I am in awe of her knowledge level. She was a Godsend and a wealth of knowledge.”

- Jill Brogan, NC
As my own practice continued to grow and flourish over the years, I could not ignore my passion for helping other nutrition professionals to get started or get to the next level.
When I first started to practice nutrition, I had a good friend ask me, “Why would you get into this field, who sees a nutritionist anyway?”

At the time he was right, nutrition wasn’t as hot of a topic as it is today, and people didn’t really get the connection between their food and their health as they do now. However, as nutrition professionals, we know in our bones, that the right food and lifestyle habits, is the path towards optimal health, and many people need the support of a mentor or guide to get there.

Over the years I have earned multiple certificates, worked with a variety of complex clients, taught classes at all levels, and sought experiences that helped me grow as I found my way.
I know that figuring out the next best move when running a business,
while supporting clients, can feel overwhelming.
The path of the nutrition professional is not a straight one. It’s not one that takes us from the cap and gown to the front door of a hospital or doctors office.

These are the challenges we face as we build our business. Learning when to say yes, and when to say no, are equally important. Forging forward as a nutrition entrepreneur can be an emotional path forward.

For some of us, letting go of the day job and fully stepping into the nutrition field takes a lot of confidence and courage.
Creating a transformational experience for our clients requires systems and confidence in the process.
Watching clients transform, and reclaim their true health, is a gift. This is why we do what we do.

I have had to learn how to support my clients and take them through a process that I have created for them.

Each of us has an opportunity to create a unique approach in our business and with our clients. And while there is no right way, I have learned a lot in these last 12 years, and know what works and what doesn’t.
Embracing the uncertain Entrepreneurial path
“I have not failed, I just found 10,000 ways that won’t work”
- Thomas Edison
My path in the nutrition field has been an adventure. From being the lead Nutrition Consultant in a high end spa, to teaching elementary and middle school students about nutrition, teaching classes in a college setting, at medical clinics, for University studies, and working with other organizations and non-profits that aligned with my philosophy, I know a lot of the ins and outs of how to navigate in this field.

My path has led me in lots of directions, and I am grateful to have stayed the course and followed my passion.

As an entrepreneur, there are times that I doubted myself and wanted to give up and get a “job”.  I realize now that a combination of the passion I have for nutrition, and the support I have gotten for my business, allowed me to continue to grow and keep working towards my goals.

However, I have also learned to be strategic in how I’ve grown and what I’ve said yes to. Being successful in this business is not about filling your schedule up too full, it's about finding balance between your life and your work.

We are lucky to be passionate about what we do, so learning and growing doesn’t always feel like work, but balance is essential.
"Mary Sheila and Michael are great compliments to each other. Between the two of them, they have years of experience covering much related to growing a successful nutrition business and how to establish an online presence. I have appreciated their support throughout the class. They have shown me options of growth for my business that I didn’t even know existed. I will be referring to the recorded class calls, exercises and the handouts long after the SANP series has ended."
